Obama??? I don't get it.

As soon as Senator Joe Biden threw his hat in the Democratic Presidential Nomination race a comment he made on the Junior Senator from Illinois made instant headlines. It was a perfectly innocent and extremely complimentary comment on Senator Obama also in the race.

It reveals how very very far this nation is from an ideal of "color blindness" where the color of skin or race period just doesn't matter.

That's what the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's was about "color blindness" as evidenced by the words of Martin King when he said to paraphrase, " I dream of a nation an America where people are judged by the "Content of their Character" and nothing else.

Americans of Caucasian and African descent are both guilty of the continued rascism. There is no reason on earth that anyone has to be fearful of saying what they think (read political correctness) without others finding some hint of racism in their words especially when it comes to anything any white American says about a American of African descent. This in itself is blatant Racism of which Americans of African descent are themselves the most guilty.

I am a Liberal Progressive Southern Democrat to the core of my being. I don't get the Obama thing. It seems to me he is even in the running simply because of his racial background and half of that is black. It seems to be forgotten that Mr. Obama is just as White as he is Black with an African father from Kenya and an Ameircan mother of Irish descent from the United States. I do not see any qualification whatsoever in this Genaology that qualifies anyone to run for or be President of the United States and think that the Racist attitudes that create such a possiblity out of such a slimnest and fliminess of circumstances is beyond stupid and the opposite of "color blindness" it is "color awareness" in the extreme.

Senator Obama is a wonderful person with an excellent mind and has been a great Illinois politician and brief (only 2 years) US Senator. I agree with his political stances almost 100% but this in no way makes him any where near the best Democratic Nominee for President of our country.

First, the repeated label as an African American is just plain not true. He is 50% white, why not a label of "white American" since his heritage is equal. Why a label at all? It simply exploits Black Racism and Guilty White Racism and has nothing to do with the good Senator's qualifications.

Anyone who would vote for anyone running for any office in the United States and votes for them merely because of the perceived and false Label of their skin color or ancestry is an Idiot and a Racist pure and simplek.

Just about every single other Democrat running for the Democratic Nomination for President is far and above very much more qualified by experience and especially a genuine American Experience than Senator O'Bama.

Senator O'Bama grew up in foreign countries (some say this is a qualification in understanding the international community and this has some merit but it isn't sufficient to qualify him in my opinion). He hasn't lived the life of Americans of Black or Caucasian or any other racial or cultural descent in the United States.

No, I don't get it.

I'd certainly vote for him with much trepidation if he is the eventual nominee but please Senator O'Bama stay in the Senator and acquire an American Experience before you run for the highest office in our land.
