Church and State: Discovering an American Heritage

I've been doing a lot of genealogical research of my family which dates back on one side to Sir Walter Raleigh's Lost Colony in North Carolina in 1587 and the James River/Chesapeake Anglo Saxon settlements in Virginia in the 1620's.

I have learned to my pure pleasure that almost all my early ancestors in the Carolinas and Virginia were Primitive Baptists totally seperate from what later became the reactionary Southern Baptist Church with it's horrible justification of human slavery and other beliefs anathema to American democratic principles and the natural rights of man.

From the beginning my family believed and agreed with those enlightened Founding Fathers of our country who believed in the right to practice religious beliefs as one's conscience dictated with complete freedom from the strong arm of any Government including our own and the complete seperation of any church or religious organization from State.

It is a purely and uniquely American belief which I am proud my ancestors brought to this country and the very reason for which they left Scotland, England and Ireland to come here.

This uniquely American belief is being challenged today by Americans for Pete's sake who have forgotten who they are and where and why they come from.

I haven't forgotten and it is the duty of all loyal Americans to fight this horrible intrusion of Church and State on our freedoms and liberties.
