GOOD MORNING DEMOCRACY

For a moment there I thought my recent post on Ole Virginia might be delayed. But, thank God, Senator Allen in the midst of passing footballs admitted he had lost and now we have a Moderate Democrat from the Gipper's (city on the shining hill) own administration as the newly elected Senator from the Old Dominion. Robert E. Lee is happy in his grave.

In Indiana a state which has been stauchly Republican since the War Between The States added to the wonderful good sense those heartland mid westerners have in discerning truth from fiction in the selection of Evan Bayh and before him his father Birch Bayh and threw out 3 very right wing Congressmen to begin the Democratic victory which has delivered the nation from it's long nightmare and descent into the dictatorship of one party rule. Thank you Indiana.

In North Carolina in the center of the western Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, a life term Republican Charles Taylor was thrown out in favor of Democrat Shuler (another football player) thus redeeming Western North Carolina's support of Republicans since the Civil War because mountaineers despised human slavery so. They have elected a Democrat based on the same motivation. They despise lies and the night mare of the first 6 Bush years. Thank you my dear Carolina mountaineers.

In the 8th district of North Carolina which is populated by former textile mills all outsourced to third world countries the Democratic nomineee came within 500 votes 50% of defeating Robin Hayes a Republican Textile CEO whose vote was purchased at the last moment for the Napta agreement pushed by Corporate America and the Bushies. The 8th district was solidly democratic until the Southern Strategy coverted Dixiecrat/Democrats to Pubs who hated the Civil Right laws beginning with the Nixon cons in 1968. Hopefully, it is at long last returning home. The highest any Democrat has come after 1968 has been only 42%. Larry Kissell is challenging the vote and a recount will be had. Unlike Virginia there is so much corruption here that Kissell may yet win God Willing.

There is a city on the shining hills after All.
