Political Correctness.
This absurd concept which emerged it's hydra headed absurdity in the late 1980's and early 1990's has become a polite way of ignoring the Bill of Rights, imposing censorship and stifly any opinion other than that of the "authorities" who practice it. Strangely enough it seems abundantly apparent to me that those who practice it or say they do are the least politically correct of all, therein is the irony of Hypocricy.
You can't get away from it. It's everywhere you go in all political garb from the extreme right to the extreme left it has been embraced with a passion by those who do not hold the art of conversation and freedom of thought and opinion dear.
Like the Gestopo SS of the Third Reich a fear of speaking ones mind has spread like a dark cloud of fear across the whole nation.
I think every idea no matter how absurd should have it's expression in the court of public opinion and I know that the 1st Amendment speaks to that as being the most American of beliefs.
Few organized groups are fighting this trend but foremost among them in the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). We are blessed in the United States by the existence of such a wonderful group which often at great sacrifice stands up for our Bill Of Rights and the Universal Rights of Man.
Like everyone else there are occasional positions they take (such as in the illegal alien issues right now) that I disagree with but I respect their right to do so. In the end they are protecting and serving as watchdogs for us all. And above all more than any other group they are a bulwark against POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!
