Caring for the Aged: A Christian Viewpoint

Close every nursing home in the United States. Shut these evil warehouses of Americans abused aged down once and for all.

One state in the United States is proving it can be done. Gosh, Shock, Unbelievable, It is one of the most LIBERAL most DEMOCRATIC, most SECULAR states in the union. It's VERMONT.

Republicans and the counterfeit christian right wing are always prating about monuments of the 10 Commandments everywhere you look. Wouldn't it be nice if they actually obeyed them?

The 4th Commandment says: "Honor thy Father and thy Mother so that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God hath given thee." A commandment that promises the reward of a long earthly life to the Nation of Ancient Israel.

I submit that in nation that proudly pronounces it is Christian and warehouses it's elderly in institutions where life is pure hell has a lot to pay for and certainly isn't keeping the 4th commandment.

On the other hand, Liberal, Democratic Vermont is keeping the elderly with their families and paying family members, or friends to help care for them at the rate of $10.00/hour 35/40 hours a week. The elderly are well cared for, independant and above all not being denied their rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happinesss.

Furthermore it is saving the Medicaid program in the state of Vermont hundreds of millions of dollars.

So, Bible Belt States, Republican States, Fundamentalist counterfeit christian states, what's your excuse?

Obey the 4th Commandment. Honor your Father and Mother.
