Our enemies have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They have made us become like them.

Garrison Keilor of Prarie Home Companion/Lake Wobegon fame has a right on the head essay on the Truthout.org site. It is concerning the 65 Republicans who have engraved their names in that Hall of Infamy as destroyers and shredders of that wonderful Constitution of the United States our founding fathers fought so hard to give us. Garrison quotes a poem from Sir Walter Scott which has always been among my favorite poems when used correctly. It is true patriotism the exact opposite of what these Senators did in voting to give the President dictatortorial powers.

Sir Walter Scott wrote:

Breathes there a man with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said
This is my own my native land
Whose heart has n'er within him burned
As home his footstep he hath turned

If such there be go mark him well
For him, no minstrel raptures swell.
High though their titles, proud their name,
Boundless their wealth as wish can claim,
These wretched figures shall go down
To the vile dust from whence they sprung,
Unwept, unhonored and unsung.
